In Silico Approaches to Drug Design

Prof Grace Mugumbate, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Research, Innovation, and Industrialisation at Midlands State University in Zimbabwe shares her expertise in computer-aided drug discovery and development. Her work primarily focuses on finding new drugs for malaria, tuberculosis (TB), and breast cancer and these projects have attracted grants both locally and internationally, underscoring her accomplishments in health research.

Lesion-centric pharmacokinetic (PK) & pharmacodynamic (PD) considerations for TB drug discovery and regimen design

As with malaria, tuberculosis (TB) remains a priority for drug discovery research on the African continent. Jansy Sarathy, Assistant Professor at the Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine in Nutley, New Jersey, and Assistant Member at the Center for Discovery and Innovation delivered an engaging presentation on applying site-of-disease pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic (PK-PD) concepts to rationalise TB treatment efficacy.

Development of Probiotics and Live Biotherapeutic Products (LBPs) to Support Infant and Women’s Health

This webinar provided fascinating insight into research conducted by Dr Cecile Vernochet, Discovery Project Lead at Gates Medical Research Institute, around scientific discoveries, program development and clinical trials for probiotic nutritional supplements in LMICs.
