The H3D Foundation is thrilled to welcome Dr. Jutta Reinhard-Rupp into our new ambassador role. Based in Switzerland, Dr. Reinhard-Rupp is a senior global health expert with more than 20 years of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, specialising in malaria and neglected tropical diseases. She is also the former head of the Merck Global Health Institute. 

H3D Foundation has enjoyed a long-standing relationship with Dr. Reinhard-Rupp, having worked with her on infectious disease research projects as well as mentorship and training programmes.

In her Ambassador role, Dr. Reinhard-Rupp will raise awareness about the H3D Foundation and its initiatives in order to strengthen and build partnerships. She will be based in the H3D Foundation office in Geneva and will attend various events globally on behalf of the H3D Foundation. 

Dr. Reinhard-Rupp’s responsibilities include:

  • Securing diverse funding streams
  • Building and maintaining partnerships 
  • Cohesive management of existing and prospective investment in innovative pharmaceutical R&D in Africa – sustainability and cohesiveness, creating strategic links with other initiatives 
  • Developing a full drug discovery value chain through partnerships 
  • Identifying strategic linkages within the value chain to amplify and increase cohesion

“I am very passionate about making a difference for the most vulnerable populations suffering from tropical diseases,” she says. 

“I aim to harness my 20+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry to contribute to the development and delivery of affordable health solutions as well as support local skill development in an effort to empower the next generation of scientists.” 

Dr. Reinhard-Rupp currently serves as scientific advisor at the DZIF (German Network for Infection Research) and at CPCDI (Cross-Pharma Capacity Development Initiative). She studied Biology in Mainz and Tübingen and received her PhD at the Max-Planck Institute in Tübingen. After her postdoctoral training, she joined biopharmaceutical companies in various assignments from drug discovery to submission of products. With her family, she enjoys the lake and the mountains around Geneva, outdoor sports and classical music.
